Since the late 1960s, Shalom House in Portland, Maine has been a beacon of hope for those who need it.
Shalom House was started because nearly 60 years ago thousands of patients with mental illness were released from hospitals during the deinstitutionalization movement and forced to fend for themselves in unprepared and often unwelcoming communities. Thanks to the Shalom House in Portland, Maine, people with mental illness were offered a halfway house to ease the transition from hospital to independent living.

The Shalom House art program is funded through grants and donors. The Paint and Nosh event is a fundraiser to help this vital program continue. It's going to be super fun! At the Art Studio, you'll paint your canvas with guidance from Shalom's instructor!

Bring a friend, enjoy snacks and beverages, and create a masterpiece that you can take home with you! All funds raised will be used to benefit the Shalom House Art Program and their work in providing art as therapy to those living with mental illness and experiencing homelessness in Southern Maine.
