If you're planning to do some shopping anywhere in Portland, better bring your reusable bags. The city recently passed an ordinance that allows stores to charge 5 cents per bag for anything non-reusable. With that said, there's some new info surfacing that shows your resuable bags may be home to some serious bacteria if you're not careful. Read on. 

The local Portland TV news station WGME Channel 13 collected 5 reusable shopping bags and had them tested by the Microbiology and Infectious Disease lab at the University of New England. You may not be surprised to learn that a lot of bacteria was found on all 5 bags that were tested. Not suprising but still a little shocking and definitely not awesome considering your food is carried in the bags. Some of the bacteria found is closely related to E.Coli.
