The Famous Red’s Eats in Wiscasset, Maine Opens Six Days a Week For the Summer
The famous Red's Eats lobster shack in Wiscasset is going to expand its hours soon, giving you more chances to have one of their award-winning lobster rolls.
Red's Eats History
Allan "Red" Gagnon originally opened Red's Eats in Boothbay, Maine, in 1938. It moved to its present-day location in 1954 at the intersection of Water and Main Streets in Wiscasset, right before the railroad tracks and the bridge between Wiscasset and Edgecomb.
It's still run by the Gagnon family, and Al "Red" Gagnon's daughter, Debbie Gagnon, has been at the helm of Red's since 1996.
What Everyone Comes to Red's For
Word has spread quickly across the country about just how good Red's Eats lobster roll is. If you've never tried one, it's worth the drive. However, be prepared to wait in what can sometimes be a very long line.
Red's has limited outdoor seating and nothing indoors. Red's is just your typical lobster shack that just so happens to have one of the best lobster rolls in Maine.
5 Days a Week Becomes 6
When Red's opened for the 2025 season on May 7, people came out in droves to get their lobster roll. Getting through a winter without a Red's lobster roll can give you cabin fever.

No worries, though, because Red's is currently open Wednesday through Sunday, 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. However, Red's kicks it into high gear starting on Tuesday, June 17, when they will be open six days a week, 11:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
On Mondays, they will be closed, but with all those people coming to get a Red's lobster roll, can you blame them? They need at least one well-deserved break a week.
