Portland Volunteers Give Their Time To Answer Kids’ Letters To Santa From All Over Maine
Volunteers from Portland give their precious time and energy to answer all the letters to Santa that come from all over Maine. These letters addressed to Santa are found in mail collection boxes around the state over the holiday season, according to a press release from the United States Post Office. The mail is taken to the main Portland Post Office, where the volunteers will work hard in "Santa's Workshop" to respond to each precious letter with a personal reply from Santa Claus.
The press release says the Postal Service doesn't get any tax dollars for operating expenses, and relies on sales of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
Christmas is less than two weeks away, so a word to parents: Time is running out to get those letters to "Santa."
