With the 2020 minor league baseball season canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, some minor league teams have just closed up shop with the plan to get back at it in 2021. But that isn't the case for the Portland Sea Dogs. Instead, Slugger and the gang have been working on innovative ways to make use of Hadlock Field which includes their latest venture, turning the infield diamond into a outdoor dining room.

The Portland Sea Dogs are calling it "Dining on the Diamond", a chance to bring a date or the whole family and sit at an outdoor table directly on the manicured baseball diamond that such greats as Xander Bogaerts and Dustin Pedroia have played on. The two-night event will take place on Friday, July 24th and Saturday, July 25th and will be reservation-only. There will be two sessions each night, lasting 75 minutes each so that proper cleaning can be done between sessions. If you reserve a table, you'll be asked to place your dinner order 72 hours prior to your evening of dining on the diamond. Of course, hot dogs and hamburgers are on the menu, but so is BBQ chicken and steak tips as well. You can check it out here.

This unique idea follows the Sea Dogs turning Hadlock Field into a target golf course over several days. That event saw great participation because it may never happen again. The Sea Dogs are hopeful that this event will be looked at the same way.

You will be required to wear a mask when entering Hadlock Field for this event.
