Thursday, April 18 is a big day when the Sea Dogs return for a homestand on the 25th anniversary of the day the Sea Dogs played their very first game at Hadlock Field.

April 18, 1994 was the first time a Maine AAA affiliate had played baseball since the Maine Guides and later Maine Phillies left The Ballpark in Old Orchard Beach in 1988. It was a chance that owner Dan Burke took on the team and it paid off big time.

First affiliated with the Florida Marlins, the Sea Dogs switched affiliation to the Boston Red Sox in 2003 and ever since we've seen the up and coming players before they made the big league. Names likes Jon Lester, Dustin Pedroia, Edgar Renteria, Kevin Youkilis and Hanley Ramirez all started with the Sea Dogs.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Sea Dogs first opening day, the first 500 people through the gate at Hadlock will receive a commemorative cap in the teal colors of the original uniforms.
