Portland Bar Using Natural Straws to Help Environment
A new trend has been spreading through Maine where restaurants and bars are not offering straws with drinks unless requested in an effort to cut down on plastic in the environment. One Portland bar is going a step further and switching to biodegradable plastic free straws.
Arcadia National Bar on Preble Street is now using Hay! Straws which are made from wheat stems and, according to the Hay! Straws website, "are similar in feel and function to the plastic straws we’ve all become so accustomed to, but without the toxins and the damaging footprint on our earth."
Sounds like a win-win to us.
