Popular Maine Brewery Expanding to South Portland With New Tasting Room
A popular Maine brewery will be extending its reach soon.
Mast Landing Brewing has announced plans for its third tasting room. The South Portland spot will be right in the heart of South Portland's bustling food and drink neighborhood, sitting on Cottage Rd. It will be neighbors with local favorites, Otto Pizzeria, David's 388, and the iconic Red's Dairy Freeze.
Founded in 2015, Mast Landing got its start in downtown Westbrook. The brewery quickly became one of the more popular breweries in Maine behind popular styles like the plethora of crispy IPA's and the outstanding Gunner's Daughter Milk Stout.
Mast Landing also hit gold in 2017 with its "Wessie" IPA. The West Coast ale was named after the python or boa that had escaped into the wilderness of Westbrook and haunted every ophidiophobiac's dreams for an entire summer.
More recently, Mast Landing opened its second tasting room in the shopping haven of Freeport. The gigantic space features not just the vast variety of beer, but also a significant food menu as well.
In the company's press release for the latest tasting room, they expressed how important the local community has been and continues to be for the brewery. This is from Ian Dorsey, Mast Landings President and CEO...
As Mast Landing continues to grow, our goal has always been to do so in a smart & patient way. The SoPo tasting room will follow through on that vision by giving us a chance to get closer to folks who have long supported us. The space is great, and is well suited for us to jump in & make it our own - the vibrant neighborhood will allow us to connect with the community, and hopefully grow with it...
This is certainly exciting news for all those beer lovers in the region. I have no doubt this will be a big hit. It's also a perfect location, sitting right in an area that has seen tremendous small business growth over the past decade.
