It’s the end of an era here in Portland, Maine, as we wave goodbye to the Pat’s Pizza location in the Old Port.

The loved restaurant has been standing proud on Market Street for 14 years but is sadly closing its doors after this coming weekend.

I still remember my jaw hitting the ground the first time I ever walked into the Portland location after only ever having been to the Pat’s Pizza in Yarmouth. I was used to Pat’s being a casual local spot to grab lunch with friends and a beer with Dad but the Portland spot adds a completely other experience: a club.

Pat’s Pizza in Portland, Maine

The Pat’s in Portland is three floors of good food, good drinks, and good entertainment. What I was expecting to be a casual restaurant is actually home to a raving bar that gets packed on the weekends with people partying and dancing in the main dining room part and at the bar upstairs.

I could not believe it the first time I went to the Portland location and had to wait in line for 10 minutes. I stood there in utter disbelief thinking to myself, am I really standing in a line of 20-something-year-olds waiting to show a bouncer my ID to get into a Pat’s Pizza?! I had no idea what was waiting for me inside.

That line will probably wrap around all the way down Market Street this weekend for the restaurant and bar’s last hoorah.

Pat’s Pizza is Closing in Portland, Maine

The restaurant recently posted on Facebook sharing the sad news that they are closing its doors. The spot has been open for 14 years and is a staple for many here in Portland.

Not only will people flock there this weekend to get their last fix but they will also get free food! As the post shares, they will be handing out free food on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with a drink purchase while supplies last.

If you didn’t have plans for the weekend, you do now.

We’re sorry to see you go, Pat’s, but at least we can still enjoy Maine’s best pizza at one of their many locations around the state.
