Oxford Casino Hotel Raises over $1 Million for Maine Charities
Oxford Casino Hotel made a commitment to give back and they have in a big way.
For the past 10 years, Oxford Casino has backed up its commitment to helping the community and state they are in by raising money every month for a variety of charities. From the minute this giant entertainment center opened its doors, they were raising money for local charities, non-profits, and food pantries. It was a key part of its mission. One of the first charities was the Maine Cancer Foundation through the efforts of Cans for a Cure.
They were Oxford Casino’s first 'Give $5 Get $10'. It allows guests of the casino to join in the effort by donating cash, expired tickets, and/or change receipts to help the designated local charity. Back 10 years ago, they gave Cans for a Cure $5,000. That money stayed in Maine to help those fighting breast cancer. Over the years, they raised the bar on how they could help, diving into the local charities!
Matt Gallagher, General Manager at Oxford Casino said,
The best thing about this program is that 100 percent of the donations go directly to the cause. Every year, we see an increase in requests for assistance and it is clear just how valuable these programs can be. From providing meal assistance to local pantries to housing for homeless Veterans, Oxford Casino sees the need and continues to expand our outreach and ability to promote positive change in the State of Maine.
Through the pandemic, through everything, Oxford Casino hasn't just been a company making a generous donation. They have been a partner. Nope, that's not it. A caring partner. I have worked hand in hand with the crew at Oxford Casino for 10 years and have loved the collaboration.
This company came to Maine, provided a great place to have a 'wicked good time', and thanked the community by giving back. Thank YOU Oxford Casino! Here's to the second million dollars you will raise for worthy causes!
