Even if you’re not into politics or you are completely politically unaware, you have a sense of who Paul LePage is. As Maine’s former governor, he has made a name for himself for more than just legislation and political moves; he’s made a name for himself because he can’t keep his foot out of his mouth.

Now, I won’t tell you where I stand politically but I don’t need to have a stance to share some of LePage’s most outrageous (and some, funny) quotes over the last few years.

I didn’t even need to go digging for these. You can literally just Google “Best Paul LePage Quotes” and CNN has an entire article on it.

Best Paul LePage Quotes

You have to give it to him, he’s a blunt guy. I pride myself in being blunt and my friends appreciate it, too; they always say my honesty and bluntness make it so they never have to guess where I stand on something and they always know my opinion on things.

I guess that’s something Paul and I have in common.

Here are a few of the interesting things that have flown out of his mouth, as shared by CNN:

“What I think we ought to do is bring the guillotine back. We could have public executions.”

This one was in response to drug traffickers getting away with crime. Ah, yes, Paul LePage, let’s all crowd together in Monument Square and execute our civilians guillotine-style instead of the annual Christmas Tree Lighting.

“Everybody looks at the negative effects of global warming, but with the ice melting, the Northern Passage has opened up.”

Which, you know, is good for the shipping business!!! Wooh!! What a win!

“If you take a plastic bottle and put it in the microwave and you heat it up, it gives off a chemical similar to estrogen. And so the worst case is some women might have little beards.”

This was him joking about the toxic effects of bisphenol A (BPA) at the same time he was trying to reverse the ban on plastic bottles for babies. Because that is worth his time? Sigh.

In response to the NAACP leaders and organizers criticizing him for turning down an invitation to attend ceremonies in honor of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., the former governor said, and I quote,

“Tell them to kiss my butt.”

“The worst part of my life is that newspapers are still alive.”

This is the funniest quote he has ever said. Why is this so funny? The worst part of your life is people reporting daily news that you may or may not be involved in. The quote is so simple yet so monumental and hysterical for me, I just love it.

He also mentioned blowing up a newspaper building here in Maine but I won’t get into the gritty details of that one. But if you are offended and threatened by newspapers I think the problem might be… you? But what do I know?

These aren’t all of his quotes but I didn’t even feel comfortable typing half of them. If you’re interested in the outrageous things that have come out of Maine’s former governor's mouth, just refer to the CNN article I referenced. Whew.
