Planning a Summer Trip to North Conway? Here’s What You Need to Know That I Didn’t Know
After going away to North Conway for a couple of days, I realized quickly that things were not going to go as planned. Granted I have not visited North Conway in years, I did not expect things to change that much, however, I was wrong.
Do not get me wrong, I love going to Conway. There is always so much to see, plus just being there is relaxing. It is like the air is completely different (in a good way) and the scenery is just so peaceful.
I went to Conway with the plan of going up Mount Washington and going down the Alpine Slide. However, neither of those things happened.
There was really no excuse for me not to go up Mount Washington other than it being a foggy day (and it only being about 40 degrees at the top of the mountain). The Alpine Slide is a completely different story. I went on Attitash's website and could not find any information on going on the slide this season.
When I got to my hotel, I talked with the person at the desk and was shocked at what they had to say. I was told that the Alpine Slide may not even open this season. Not only that but that many places (restaurants and things to do) were closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
To my surprise, this was 100% true. Many restaurants and things to do were closed while I was visiting. There are still many things that are open though, Mt. Washington, Saco River (for all your floating needs), you could visit bridges or waterfalls, and of course, visit some of your favorite stores like Zeb's and North Conway 5 and 10 store.
Of course, there is also family fun not too far away. Story Land and Clark's Bears are both open for the 2022 season.
Even with things closed, there is still so much to explore, or you can do what I did and just relax and take it all in. If you plan on visiting North Conway this Summer, I would definitely recommend making sure everything that you want to do is open prior to heading there.
