Ladies and Gentleman, Lewiston is becoming one with mother nature. I love Thorns Craig Bird Sanctuary, I grew up right next to it and I always use to walk my dog Nelly and appreciate the gifts of wildlife that we have in Maine.

But now, we get to experience a new nature park located in Webster Neighborhood, in Lewiston, Maine.

The details were released on Lewistonmaine.gov, yesterday.

According to the update,

A natural park space on 14 acres of wooded land in the Webster Street neighborhood! This park will offer walking trails, an elevated boardwalk over wetlands, and a natural play area within a forested setting.

The website also provides a link you can click on to take a look at a website built just to provide you with information on the park! According to the website, this newly built park is going to give you way more than just walking trails.

They will also have an elevated boardwalk over wetlands and a natural play area within a forested setting.

Sounds like a setting of a nature movie doesn't it?

They provide extensive details and maps of exactly where the 14 plus acres of the park will be located, on which streets you can enter, as well as the boundary of the park.

They also describe how they are using Lewiston's natural wetlands to benefit this park.

The network of wetlands and vernal pool act as a natural sponge for the surrounding neighborhood, absorbing and filtering stormwater runoff while providing critical habitat for amphibians and birds.

I didn't even know that Lewiston had natural wetlands? It's very important for the wildlife and survival of birds and other animals we have that call our city home. I am most definitely going to be spending my time with my son there this summer! Are you?
