Maine’s Reigning Champion Corn Maze Competes for National Prize
Corn mazes aren't just for fall pumpkin festivals anymore. Last year, Levant's Treworgy Family Orchard's corn maze artwork was awarded "Best Corn Maze" by USA Today and is now attempting to defend their title for a second year in a row, according to News Center Maine.
Currently ranked second place from voting thus far, Treworgy Orchard is in position to perform well in the competition for the second time in a row. Owner Patty Treworgy does not consider their award a foregone conclusion by any means... she says receiving the award for the second year in a row would be an honor, as there is plenty of planning and effort that goes into forming their magnificent maze.
"Laying out where the grid is going to go; getting the grid on the ground; actually spraying the design on the ground; and then cultivating the corn that isn't supposed to be in certain areas so that the corn that's supposed to be there can grow. It's a pretty labor-intensive thing," Treworgy explained to News Center Maine.
Needless to say, the Treworgy family deserves all the recognition they can get; and they need your help! They're up against 19 other mazes from other states, and voting continues through August 26th.
Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to head to the USA Today voting site and throw a vote for our Maine reps! Then, gather your fam and make your way to Treworgy Orchard to view the maze in person. I'm willing to bet it's just as magnificent as the picture.
