So, there are festivals.. and then, there are Maine festivals where you get to try over 100 different flavors of Whoopie.

Forget the word, pie, because if you are from New England, you know exactly what a Whoopie is.

On June 13th, the iconic Maine Whoopie Pie Festival is back, hosted rain or shine at the Piscataquis Valley Fairgrounds in Dover-Foxcroft.

The Maine Whoopie Pie Festival is Back and Bigger Then Before

The event is celebrating the officially state dessert in the most Maine way possible with thousands upon thousands of whoopie pies.

The Maine Whoopie Pie Festival will run from 10:00am to 4:00pm and yes, there will be more flavors than you can reasonably justify eating in one day, but at this event, you don't need to justify anything.

You just grab your wooden nickel tokens and dive in to sample from more than 100 flavors created by backers from all over New England!

From tradition flavors to wild experimental ones, this day will be unforgettable.

If you are feeling ambitious you can partake in the "Earn Your Whoopie Pie" 3K Race/Walk which starts at 8am.

And of course, there will be whoopie pie eating contests, which feels certainly like a competitive skill all Mainers were born with.

This is the Piscataquis County's biggest annual event and has become a summer tradition for so many families and tourists.
