Watch the Roof of a Gorham Home Fly Through The Air During Wild Maine Storm
Heavy rain and strong winds hit parts of Maine on Sunday, July 20, and did significant damage to property, including a home where wind gusts ripped the roof off and sent it flying into the air.
Nasty Storm
I live within the area where some heavy damage was done. Several large trees fell on Route 302 in Windham during the evening commute. Luckily, crews were able to clear the tree quickly and keep traffic moving.
This storm had the potential for strong winds, heavy rain, lightning, and hail. It all depended on where you were on what you got.
Mosher Road in Gorham
The above is a Google Street View of the home that lost its roof from the high winds on July 20. According to The Portland Press Herald, the homeowner is Kaley Petros. During the storm, a huge wind gust ripped her roof off on the side away from the camera position and went flying in the air right in the direction of a driver on Mosher Road.

Steffen Olsen captured video of the incident and shared it on Facebook. It looks scary! The roof comes up into the air in one piece and then splits, showering debris over the road. Just further down from the house, a tree fell and landed partially in the road.
The good news here is that no one was injured. The Press Herald reported that Petros wasn't at home at the time, and she lives in another home on Mosher Road, so she has a shelter.
