Many politicians in Maine, including Governor Paul LePage, wanted to see the mini-liquor bottles commonly referred to as "nips" bite the dust. But after lengthy debate and a vote, the Maine Liquor Commission has decided that nips aren't going anywhere.

According to the Portland Press Herald, the Commission voted 4-1 in favor of keeping that very popular mini-liquor bottles on store shelves in Maine. Compelling arguments were made both for and against, but in the end, the allure of keeping jobs in Maine, and alcohol sales high, outweighed the insistence that both littering and drunken driving incidents are up thanks to nips being sold in the state.

While the commission's decision to keep nips in stores is final, there is potential that this same issue could be brought up again in future years if there is more compelling evidence that nips are causing more problems that profits.
