Maine Cat With the Saddest Eyes Has Been Waiting Months for Adoption
For most people. there's a pit that forms in our stomach when a certain commercial comes on TV. That commercial is for the ASPCA, and features a montage of cats and dogs with the saddest eyes you've ever witnessed, all while a Sarah McLachlan song plays in the background. For a handful of people, it's too much. For others, it's a reminder of how cruel this world can be to some pets. It's the sad eyes that draw us in and make us want to help. What if they were right in your backyard?
Shared by the Kennebec Valley Humane Society, the eyes of a shelter cat named Omega are just as piercing. When KVHS posted about Omega back in December, their post received more than 100 shares. Many people likely thought that engagement would lead to Omega finding the home he so desperately needs, but as it turns out, he's still looking.
Omega is one of many cats in the barn buddy program at Kennebec Valley Humane Society. If you're unfamiliar, the Barn Buddy program at KVHS is about finding suitable homes for cats that prefer living outdoors because they are generally unhappy living inside. Homeowners with secure outdoor structures or barns could be a perfect match for a kitty that's currently in the barn buddy program.
If you're interested in Omega or another cat that is part of the Barn Buddy program, the first step to adoption is filling out an application that can be found here. Here's to hoping Omega's "sad" eyes will be filled with joy at his new home very soon.
