Kristen Bell Is Returning to Narrate ‘Gossip Girl’ Reboot
Good morning, Upper East Siders. Your favorite Gossip Girl is back.
"Kristen Bell has always been and will always be the voice of Gossip Girl," the producers said in a statement to the outlet. Bell served as the voice of the omnipresent blogger Gossip Girl for all of the show's six seasons, which aired from 2007-12.
Over the summer, it was announced the series would be receiving a modern update for HBO's new streaming service, with creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage signing on as executive producers and Joshua Safran, who was showrunner in the original's later seasons, set to write and executive produce.
"It's just a new look at this particular society in New York, the idea being that society changes constantly," Safran said about the new series. "So how has this world changed, how has social media and its effect changed? All of those things allow us to look at the world 12 years on as opposed to just redoing the story. None of us are interested in just redoing a story."
Though it'll be a continuation, not a remake of the original story, Schwartz has made it clear that he's reached out to the original cast members and they're all welcome to be involved, if they want. Chace Crawford, who played Nate Archibald, has already expressed interest in making a cameo.
