Maine Mom Gives Daughter a Landline Instead of a Cell Phone

Now we’ve all been there as parents, your kiddo begs for a cell phone and not just any phone, the best iPhone there is. The kind that has a camera that could shoot a movie.

This happened to one Maine mom, but she took a completely different route and because of that, she’s changing the game. And people are loving it.

According to CBS This Morning Facebook, a mental health provider’s 10 year old daughter asked for a smartphone, but her mom decided to buy her an “old fashioned” land line instead.

Yep, the kind that plugs into the way, with a cord, and actual buttons.

This, is brilliant.

Because of the field that this mom works in, she understands the stress and pressures that kids with smart phone face, so giving her this landline teaches her daughter to be able to communicate with her friends without all of the distractions.

Why One Maine Mom Ditched the Smartphone for a Landline

Then mom took it an extra step and shared her brilliance with other local moms and guess what happened?

Now, as per the report, 15-20 other parents have also purchased there kids landlines. And they are using them! The kids are actually talking to each other! They are waiting for a dial tone, listening to the ring and chatting!

Because of this, there parents are saying that the positive impact from the landlines has been huge. The children have become better listeners, more patient, and have the ability to engage in conversation.  

Not to mention, they learned phone etiquette! This isn’t about being anti-tech either, it’s just about showing your children a different way of communicating with others. Bringing back the landline may be old-fashioned, but how parents are using it with their kids is nothing short of amazing.
