Get your tissues ready, as this is an incredible, full-circle story.

Back in 2016, Tenley Gillett tried to take her own life in Manchester, New Hampshire, and was miraculously saved by the Manchester Fire Department, according to a WMUR article.

Last Thursday, seven years after her what happened, Tenley Gillett was sworn into the same fire department that saved her life.

She was recently featured on Good Morning America:

This story gives me goosebumps.

“I just really want to become a good leader and inspire others to whatever path they're on, to keep pushing forward,” Gillett said, according to WMUR. “To work hard and not be a victim of your mind.”

I cannot commend Gillett and the Manchester Fire Department enough. Like 911, a critical phone number to have memorized is the suicide and crisis lifeline. If you or anyone you know may be struggling, the lifeline can be contacted any time at 988.

As a New Hampshire resident, I am proud of Gillette's strength and perseverance. I think I can speak for everyone in the 603 when I say we are happy to have you serve as a member of the Manchester FD.

“It was an extreme honor to see Tenley and all the other members into the Manchester Fire Department, they've worked very hard,” Chief Ryan Cashin said, according to WMUR. "Tenley especially. She's done so much work. We're super proud to have her.”
