I have been a Sex and the City fan since the very beginning. When I was in college I wanted to move to New York City and live out my Carrie Bradshaw dreams. Sure, her love life was a hot dumpster fire but her social calendar was thriving. The way she pranced around that city in $800 Manolo Blahniks (and somehow still afforded rent in Manhattan on a newspaper column writer's salary) was nothing short of iconic.

The real Sex and the City aficionados know that the main character, Carrie Bradshaw, is based on a real woman named Candace Bushnell.

According to Wikipedia, Candace moved to New York City from CT when she was 19. She was a freelance writer for many publications and struggled to make ends meet. She started writing a humorous column for a paper called "The New York Observer" called "Sex and the City" based on her real life dating experiences and those of her friends! Her columns were then published into a book which inspired the HBO series and the rest, as they say, is history.

Candace now stars in a one woman show that is coming to Capitol Center for the Arts in Concord on October 17th.

The show is described as a whirlwind tour of New York City, from Studio 54 to the Lipstick jungle and beyond. Candace shares her remarkable stories of fashion, literature, and sex while pouring cosmos in Manolos. Grab your Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte and join the OG Carrie Bradshaw for a Girls’ Night Out!
