Raising children who care about this world is a tall task these days.  We do our best as parents, but compassion starts with a strong desire to help other human beings.

That is what's so special about high schools and universities that help bring care and compassion into a learning environment.

The University of New Hampshire is strong in so many areas, one of them being students who want to visit less fortunate areas of the world and make a difference.

The UNH Medical Brigade is part of the larger international Global Brigade, which is "an international movement of students and medical professionals working alongside local communities and staff to implement sustainable health systems."

Having done many medical mission trips, I have seen the impact a group of students can have on the community.  Just seeing the smiles of these young medical professionals gives a community some hope in the world, and hope is something everyone needs to be sustainable.

What They Do

These UNH students offer medical support to people who often do not have access to the best medical care, let alone basic medical services and public health education.  The students offer vital information and basic care, which we take for granted.  Imagine the feeling of empowerment these students not only leave with, but give to these neighborhoods.

The next UNH Medical Brigade leaves for Greece in January of 2024.  The group has two upcoming fundraisers you can support.

UNH volunteers will be at The Community Oven on Monday, October 30, from 4PM-9PM, and a percent of all sales dine-in and takeout will be donated to the organization. There'll be a raffle table with awesome prizes, too.

UNH Medical Brigade students will also be collecting cash donations at the Lee NH Market Basket on November 3-4 from 9AM-3PM.

If you can't make either of these fundraisers, you can donate HERE.  You can follow their progress, too, for a better tomorrow.
