If you like jaunts in the woods like I do, chances are you have come across some peculiar things left there. Some notable finds of mine include a staircase leading to nowhere, a bullet from a pistol dating back to the Civil War era, and someone's underpants (don't worry, I didn't pick them up to investigate further).

I also recently found an abandoned car in the woods in Hampton:

The Facebook group "Forgotten New Hampshire" is for finds just like this. I have been a member for a few years now, and it never disappoints. Many times I come across photos posted to the group of things I have seen during my own explorations around the Granite State. It is always the stuff that makes you say, "Yeah! What the heck IS up with that?"

Peter Bobich recently posted a photo of this abandoned fountain found in the woods in the Bedford/New Boston area:

First of all, spOoOoOoky! Second of all, why? Of course a few members of the group commented about their theories they have around what the heck this fountain is all about.

A few jokesters mentioned that it looks like the opening scene of a horror movie, and the best thing to do would be to run away as fast as you can. Another person said it is CLEARLY the opening to the Chamber of Secrets. We love a Harry Potter reference.

A more rational human said the fountain almost looks like the water fountain/trough that the National Humane Alliance donated to a lot of cities to water horses and pets.

Have you seen this fountain in question? What do you think is the story behind it?
