The beginning of a new year always brings a handful of promises made. For some, it's to exercise more. For others, it's simply to carry less stress. And for so many, the flipping of the calendar means a chance to focus on traveling more.

Forbes Magazine hasn't wasted any time revealing their list of the top 50 places in the world to travel to in 2024. Their list is expansive, including some major cities alongside some smaller towns that offer unique charm or a reason they stand out. One of those small towns happens to be in Maine.

Forbes named Rangeley as one of its top travel destinations for 2024. Surprisingly, Forbes doesn't think it's all about the winter in Rangeley. In fact, their blurb about the town suggests you may want to visit in the spring and summer when the crowds in Maine have found their way elsewhere.

Forbes is all about Rangeley's outdoor activity list beyond its world-famous ski mountain. They suggest visitors focus on a chance to kayak or canoe around Rangeley's waterways. There are guided moose-viewing trips available, as well as simple or expansive hikes depending on your experience level.

Forbes is also sold on just how friendly and welcoming the town is during its offseason. As visitors move on to the beaches and coastal communities like Camden and Bar Harbor in the summer, Rangeley remains a place to escape it all with the same touches of Maine charm and far less hustle or bustle.

Forbes also mentions that visitors should wake early for the sunrise, or prepare themselves for amazing sunsets. They also offer one bit of advice when visiting Maine in the late summer or fall: don't forget that bug spray.
