For many of the towns and cities across Maine, there's a handful of buildings that stand out a little more than others.

For those that live and visit Lewiston, Maine, one of those buildings in the city has been the Ramada Inn.

Located directly off the Maine Turnpike exit, the Ramada Inn has long stood out for a variety of reasons. In fact, the Lewiston location was the first Ramada Inn to operate in Maine when it was built in 1974.

But time took its toll and over the past several years, the Ramada Inn was a shell of itself.

The Former Ramada Inn in Lewiston, Maine, Had Been Condemned Twice By The City

It has been a rough few years for the former Ramada Inn. According to the Lewiston Sun-Journal, the Ramada Inn has twice been condemned by the city for various maintenance violations.

Some of those violations included a failing fire alarm system as well as several water pipe issues that caused flooding.

New ownership took control of the former Ramada Inn late last year and their transition to becoming the Clarion Inn is part of the process of a full renovation and rebrand for the longstanding hotel.
