Winter is finally out of here… well, we hope. Mainers are ready to get outside, and with mild temperatures expected soon, outdoor spring activities will resume.

1. Outdoor Adventure Companies

Hiking, biking, kayaking, canoeing—if it involves fresh air and possibly getting a little muddy, Maine’s outdoor adventure companies are ready. Guided tours, rentals, and excursions are popping back up. Here are some ideas.

2. Garden Centers & Nurseries

A sure sign of spring is garden centers and they're already stocking up on flowers, veggies, and everything you need to turn your backyard into an oasis.

3. Ice Cream Stands

No, 50 degrees isn’t technically “ice cream weather,” but that never stopped a true Mainer. A bunch of seasonal ice cream stands are already open, with the rest to follow in the near future.

4. Outdoor Dining

I don't know about you, but the minute a restaurant puts tables outside, I'm there. Expect patios and decks to open up soon so you can soak in that fresh air, sunshine, and maybe a cocktail (or three).

5. Outdoor Tourist Attractions

Maine’s seasonal attractions—think amusement parks, historical sites, and nature centers—are dusting off the cobwebs and getting ready for the summer 2025 season. Almost time to play tourist in your own state!

6. Fishing Charters & Boat Tours

Swimming? Not quite yet. But fishing and boat tours? Absolutely. As the lakes and rivers thaw, charters and tour companies are getting ready to hit the water. Bonus: Fewer tourists mean you actually have space to cast your line. Here are some options.

7. Farmers Markets

Nothing says spring like strolling through a farmers market with a coffee in hand. While most don’t officially kick off until May, some early birds will be setting up shop soon with fresh produce, baked goods, and all the local goodies.

8. Bike Shops & Rentals

If you’re itching to hit the trails, good news—bike shops and rental services are starting to open up. It may not be peak season, but as long as there’s no ice on the road, it’s go time for many of them.

9. Golf Courses

If the snow’s gone and the ground isn’t a swamp, Maine’s golf courses are open. With over 130 courses statewide, there’s plenty of room to work on that swing (or, you know, just drive the cart and enjoy the scenery). New at golf and don't know where to start or just looking for a fresh course? Here is a list of 100 in the state to choose from.

Because nothing says 'spring' like sipping a local craft beer outside! Maine’s breweries are starting to open up their beer gardens, which means it’s officially time to swap out the stouts for something lighter and toast to warmer days ahead. With the second-most breweries per capita in the country, they’re not hard to find—but if you need a cheat sheet, here is a list from the Maine Brewers Guild.
