GooeyGump in Portland, Maine, Announces Its Permanently Closing
For most people who visit Portland, Maine, to do some shopping, they rarely ever leave the Old Port. There are shops on every corner offering visitors a chance to peruse furniture, clothing, jewelry and a variety of collectibles.
But if you really know Portland, Maine, then you're fully aware there's been a hidden gem of a place to shop on the outskirts of the city. A place where customized designs and unique pieces are the name of the game.
That place is called GooeyGump. Soon, unfortunately, people will have to refer to it in the past tense.
GooeyGump in Portland, Maine, Announces Closure in June
In a heartfelt social media post, GooeyGump announced the difficult decision to end the business and close the retail shop at 1026 Forest Avenue in Portland.
GooeyGump started 15 years ago as a side hustle for the owner. Her goal was to take items that had been discarded and repurpose them into things people could love once again.
That side hustle became more in-demand and before long, GooeyGump had enough inventory and a regular customer base to open a full retail shop in Portland.
But after 15 years of nonstop hustle, GooeyGump is going on hiatus. The store will run normal hours from now through June or until most (if not all) their current inventory is sold.

Excluding furniture, everything in the store is 30% off starting immediately through the time GooeyGump closes their doors for good.
