Writing about Maine’s dynamic food scene really never gets old, and there’s a simple reason for that: it’s consistently among the best you’ll find anywhere. And that's not hyperbolic.

I’ve spent quite a bit time in different parts of this country, and few places can compete with the Pine Tree State when it comes to fresh, local ingredients, creative dishes, and outstanding hospitality. It's like Maine was built to be a culinary mecca.

Is Portland, Maine, Truly One of America's Best Cities for Food?

While the state is loaded with regions of culinary bliss, the one that gets the most love is Portland. It pretty much has it all. The food scene in the Forest City is exemplary. Whether it’s breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, or late-night snacks, Portland stands shoulder to shoulder with the best of them (though, to be fair, we need way more late night spots).

One of Portland’s latest culinary highlights is the growing number of dynamic Asian restaurants. The cuisine has seen exponential growth in the city over the past decade, with more styles, flavors, and concepts adding to Portland’s already impressive reputation.
