Maine’s craft beer scene is a true monster, consistently serving up the innovation and creativity that beer lovers crave. To say we are lucky is true understatement.
As of this publishing, there are over 120 breweries in the state. According to Statista, Maine had the second-highest brewery per capita number (14.6) in the country in 2023.
This means two things: Mainers love beer and local business.

As tourism season rolls on, the brewery industry is soaking up the attention. This time of year is always a boon for an industry with an economic impact comparable to that of a small principality. Yes, Maine’s beer industry is basically Liechtenstein. I have no idea if that’s accurate, but it sounds cool.
This state was built to be a craft beer oasis. The culture, tourism, and support for all things local are essentially the ethos of a craft brewery hotspot. And the numbers don’t lie.

These breweries are spread across the state—because in Maine, there’s no single beer mecca. The whole state is one.
And they offer more than just great beer. Many feature exceptional tasting rooms, fantastic food, beautiful ambiance, and fun activities. We’ve come a long way from the days of grabbing a boring domestic six-pack off the store shelf.
