Maine Community Unites as Kittery Trading Post Prepares for Annual Food Drive
If there’s one thing everyone can agree on about Maine, it’s the remarkable generosity of its people.
There are many wonderful examples of this, including a big one that's just about to kick off. It comes from the great folks down at the Kittery Trading Post. The popular Southern Maine outfitter is gearing up (no pun intended) for its annual food drive, which will take place on Friday, Nov. 21.
What is the KTP Food Round Up?
The 17th Annual KTP Food Round-Up is a way for the community to come together to help those in need in Southern York County. All the food donated goes directly to the Footprints Food Pantry in Kittery.
The KTP food drive is such an amazing event that it helps the food pantry keep its shelves well-stocked throughout the holiday months, which can certainly be a challenge. To have a flagship event like this is something I’m sure every town could benefit from.
According to KTP, this event was originally created to “provide holiday cheer and support those in our community who need a helping hand.” And that’s exactly what they have done for the past 16 years.
As much as we honor KTP for organizing the food drive, the other heroes in this story are the customers who show up in force every year to fill the Footprints Food Pantry.
How You Can Help With This Year's KTP Food Round Up
This year’s event kicks off at 9 a.m. on Nov. 21. KTP encourages customers to bring at least four non-perishable items to donate. In return, they will receive a free gift card to the store. The value of the gift cards ranges from $10 to $500 and is given out randomly. The bottom line is, it pays to donate—and for a lucky few, it’s going to pay off big time. Talk about motivation to get involved!
Huge kudos to KTP for putting on this great food drive and for their ongoing support of the community that has supported them for generations. Here’s hoping for another incredible year for the food drive!
