I don't typically write about things by complaining about them, and please don't take this the wrong way. This was just something I was truly taken aback by. Even though we already know inflation has caused grocery bills to skyrocket, spending $80 on standard household groceries will always shock me. Remember when the price of eggs was $2.50? Actually, I don't. Our parents might.

Okay, I'm going to run you through my list. I purchased eggs, cheese, english muffins, watermelon, blackberries, granola, yogurt, salad kit, chicken, dog food, graham crackers, chocolate blueberries, hearts of palm, goldfish, and a kombucha.

Can you believe that it all cost me $80 at a Hannaford in Portland?

Besides being shocked that this is what I typically keep in my house, are you even more shocked that I still can't curate an actual meal for that much money? That's the part that will never stop surprising me with inflation. I know those of you that have gotten this far in this read can relate.

Before you come after me, yes, I checked the receipt. The cashier said that he "wasn't shocked, as he's been ringing up eggs this week for over $6, and fruit for even more". How did we get here, guys?! Still, if this is my hardest problem this week, then I will consider myself lucky.  I truly can't imagine what it's like for families out there with children. God bless. I'm gonna go eat my $80 fruit with granola, which apparently is priced as a delicacy.
