Are you ready for the eclipse?

The excitement for the rare occurrence has been building for some time now, especially as parts of Maine will be able to see it on April 8, 2024.

According to WGME, thousands have traveled to Maine to witness the event, including Houlton, which is "the last spot in the country along the path of totality."

The National Weather Service states that the eclipse will begin in Houlton at 2:22 p.m. and totality will start at 3:32 PM. The total time for totality will be 3 minutes and 20.1 seconds, and the eclipse will end at 4:41 p.m. in Houlton.

News Center Maine reported that the last time a solar eclipse was visible in Maine was in 2017, which was seven years ago. The news station noted that the next solar eclipse in North America won't be until 2033, but only Alaska will be able to see it at that time.

Of course, because the eclipse is visible in Maine, a lot of people have traveled to get a glimpse. Some have even camped out for days.

So make sure to be careful when driving out there, especially as the traffic will be much heavier than usual.
