Power Failure Leads to Massive Donation to Maine Food Bank
Maine Ice Storm of 2024
While arguably not as destructive as the iconic (which seems like a weird term to use for such a negative event, but it's also truthful) Ice Storm of 1998 that leveled Maine over two decades ago, the recent Ice Storm of 2024 definitely brought back memories of that legendary storm.

Early on the morning of Sunday, March 24, a woman named Madison Douglas posted to the Falmouth Community Network (Maine, USA) group on Facebook, identifying herself as a Hannaford to Go employee in the town and mentioning closures to both features of the store and the store itself.
Harrison Food Bank
Fast forward to the following day, Monday, March 25, where knowledge of a massive donation from that very Hannaford suffering a power failure was made to Harrison Food Bank in Harrison, Maine.
Instead of doing what, unfortunately, a lot of us will possibly have to do when power is fully restored and toss away some food that is no longer edible, Hannaford's quick thinking and quick action ensured not only would the food remain perfectly edible, but will feed some of Maine's most food insecure residents.
To the shock of absolutely no one. Because that's just how Maine -- and New England in general -- rolls.
