Gardiner, Maine, Hannaford Hit by Flooding 3 Months Ago is Now Set to Reopen

It's been over three months since the Hannaford in Gardiner, Maine, had to close thanks to flooding waters.

It was a very mild winter, but certainly not without devastating storms. They weren't just snowstorms, but rainstorms. Central Maine was particularly hit with many businesses flooding, leaving them with no other choice than to close. That includes a huge business like Hannaford. The good news is that it is set to reopen Wednesday, March 27!

According to the Kennebec Journal, that's earlier than they had anticipated.

The store manager put out a statement thanking everyone in Gardiner for hanging in there and waiting until they cleaned the debris and prepped the store to reopen. He said in part,

Reopening the store this quickly would not have been possible without the unwavering support of the many associates and community members who contributed to the effort, including the tremendous partnership of the city of Gardiner. We very much look forward to welcoming customers back to the store.

The December storm, just a week before Christmas, devastated businesses and homes up and down the coast of Maine. It also brought much of the state to a halt with power outages. But to see Hannaford reopen and earlier than anticipated is just what Mainers do. They get 'er done! Get ready for your weekly shopping at the Hannaford in Gardiner starting next Wednesday, March 27!
