Maine’s 2024 Cans for a Cure in Photos
What a wild three days helping Mainers fight breast cancer.
For 22 years Lori (me) and Jeff have held an event to benefit the Maine Cancer Foundation and the amazing work they do in all 16 counties. But we certainly don't do it alone. For three days it feels like all of Maine helps out. At the end of it all, we raised $91,000 for the Maine Cancer Foundation.
It's a lot of hard work and fun
We know that breast cancer is a serious topic. So many of us have lost someone or been by their side through the battle. I lost my mom to breast cancer ten years ago. I miss her every day. We've been doing Cans for a Cure for 22 years. I've always been passionate about the cause, but 10 years ago it became personal.
There are about a million people who made this such a successful event. Two people who probably don't get enough credit are Ray Ruby and Kelly Martin from the Maine Cancer Foundation. They aren't just the lifeblood of that amazing organization, they are the backbone of Cans for a Cure. Jeff and I get the message out there, and do the collecting - but they organize it all and keep track of it all. They work 12-14 hour days right alongside us. It's a lot to ask of an organization; they gladly do it. No complaints. Hell, I even got Ray to share a meat stick with me.

To the hundreds, possibly thousands of people who make this event so special...thank you. Enjoy some of the highlights.
