Maine Friend Group Surprises Waitress With Massive Holiday Tip
'Tis the season for holiday cheer and giving.
A Mainer named Susan Carson and her friends, who've been close for about five years, started a tradition of monthly get-togethers. They later decided after seeing something online that they would share their gratitude for the waitstaff in a massive way.
According to WABI, Susan saw something on Instagram that gave her a great idea.
Susan said,
So I found a reel on Instagram, and there was this woman telling a story. She photographed the entire experience about everybody donating money and giving this tip to the server and I was like, ‘That’s an amazing idea.
Normally, Susan and her friends eat at Pepino's in Bangor, but this time, they decided to switch things up by having a festive breakfast at Chase's Family Restaurant in Bangor instead.
For those unable to attend, they contributed to the cause for this special meal. Beyond their own gift exchange, this act of kindness brought an extra dose of holiday joy to the waitress.
The group members were filled with excitement and felt like kids on Christmas morning, as the article stated.
As the time came to settle the bill and leave a special tip, the friend group thanked the server and said,
We just wanted to thank you for taking such good care of us today. And we are hoping that you have a very Merry Christmas.
The server said, “Serious?” She was genuinely surprised, and responded with gratitude and shock, mentioning her struggling car.
This gesture left a lasting impact, and the group hopes it inspires others to spread kindness.
Susan encourages everyone to be kind, especially to service workers, sharing,
Just be nice, tip a bit more than usual. In the spirit of giving, make somebody's day. You never know what people are going through, so just be kind.
