The Perfect Father’s Day Itinerary with Golf, Tacos, and Lake Views in Central Maine
Father’s Day is the perfect opportunity to slow down, enjoy the outdoors, and spend meaningful time with family. In Central Maine, June brings long days, comfortable temperatures, and beautiful scenery, making it the ideal setting for a memorable day with my dad. From an early morning on the golf course to a relaxing evening by the lake, the day is filled with simple moments that make lasting memories.
Starting the Day on the Fairway
The day begins with a delicious cup of coffee and breakfast at Sunrise Bagel in Augusta. After fueling up with a breakfast sandwich and hot coffee, we head to Augusta Country Club for an early tee time. The course is especially beautiful in June, with vibrant green fairways and trees in full bloom. As we make our way through 18 holes, there is plenty of time to talk, laugh, and enjoy each other's company. The warm sunshine, fresh air, and peaceful surroundings make every hole enjoyable, regardless of the scorecard.
Lunch Along the Kennebec River
After finishing our round, we have to decide where to grab lunch. We settle on Taco Rico, picking up a few tacos before heading down to the Kennebec River. Sitting along the riverbank, we enjoy our meal while watching the water flow by. One of the highlights is spotting sturgeon jumping from the river, an impressive sight that never gets old. The combination of great food, scenic views, and time spent together makes for a relaxing afternoon.
Wrapping Up the Day at North Pond
To finish the day, we head to North Pond, where the rest of my family is waiting. The evening pace is much slower than the excitement of the golf course, making it the perfect way to end Father's Day. Sitting along the water, we spend time talking, laughing, and enjoying each other's company. A few of us cast fishing lines into the lake, hoping to catch something before sunset, while others simply relax and take in the view.
The Belgrade Lakes region is especially beautiful in June. The calm water reflects the surrounding hills, boats drift quietly across the lake, and the warm evening air makes it easy to stay outside for hours. As the sun begins to set, the sky fills with shades of orange and pink, creating a picture-perfect Maine evening. Surrounded by family, good conversation, and some of the best scenery Central Maine has to offer, it is easy to appreciate what Father's Day is really about, spending quality time with the people who matter most.
A Father's Day spent in Central Maine offers the perfect balance of recreation, relaxation, and family time. Whether it is enjoying a morning round of golf, watching sturgeon jump along the Kennebec River, or spending the evening at North Pond with family, the day is a reminder that the best memories are often made through simple experiences shared with the people you care about most.
