Taylor City Straddles Maine And New Hampshire With Just Five Residents

Even though I consider myself to be pretty well-versed in New England history, I have to admit that I had never heard of Taylor City until I stumbled across a TikTok video about it.

A content creator using the TikTok handle of @Calvin_On_The_Internet recently posted a video about the tiny Maine town. Errrr... The tiny New Hampshire town... Well, technically, it is a tiny Maine/New Hampshire town!

The Story of Taylor City

The video explains that the 'city' (more like a village or hamlet) straddles the border between Maine and New Hampshire. Technically, it is a part of both Parsonsfield, Maine and Effingam, New Hampshire.

As of 2026, Taylor City has a population of five.

In addition to the population of five, Taylor City features a church, several houses, and the Ye Olde Sale Shoppe. Yeah, it is a typical VERY small New England town, but the really interesting part is that it exists on both sides of the ME/NH border.

While it doesn't appear on any (or, at least, not many) maps, if you want to check it out all you need to do is go to the intersection of Stagecoach Road, Hasty Road, and Province Lake Road.
