Even though most people instantly think of the massive Fryeburg Fair when they hear the name Fryeburg, the truth is that the town has much more to offer.

A charming Western Maine town, Fryeburg is home to Fryeburg Academy, one of the most respected private high schools in New England.

The town is home to some great, locally-owned, businesses, like Saco River Brewing Company.

To me, the town has always been the gateway to New Hampshire's Mount Washington Valley.

Fryeburg, Maine, is also home to some of Western Maine's best restaurants.

Sadly, one of those restaurants, which has been in business for decades, will soon close permanently.

D's Pizza in Fryeburg, Maine

According to a post on the restaurant's Facebook page, the well-known restaurant, which has served the community for decades, is closing permanently.

The post said, in part:

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of our business. This decision was not made lightly and comes after careful consideration of the challenges we have faced.

It goes on to say:

We want to express our deepest gratitude to all of you who have supported us over the our time of serving you at D’s. Your loyalty, encouragement, and kindness have meant the world to us and drove us to continue to fight through each obstacle that came our way. It has been an honor to be part of your lives.

While the post does not say when the business will close for the last time, it seems to indicate that the establishment is now closed.

During my decade living in the North Conway - Fryeburg area I only had a chance to eat at D's a handful of times, but each time it was a great experience.

We wish the owners all the best in their future endeavors.
