Central Maine Pedestrian Injured on Friday Reportedly Will Not Survive His Injuries

Earlier this week, a Central Maine man was seriously injured in a Friday evening crash in Fairfield.

Dana Dodge, 49, was reportedly crossing the street in Fairfield when he was struck by a vehicle.  Seriously injured in the crash, he was taken to a local hospital before being transported to Maine Health Maine Medical Center in Portland.

We have a sad update to the story.

According to an article on the KJ website, Mr. Dodge will not survive his injuries.  The article explains that a family member has told reporters that he is being kept alive by life support while he waits for his final walk.

As an organ donor, his passing will go on to help many other people.

While his story is tragic, it is good to see some good will come from it.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time.

While police are continuing to investigate the crash, it is looking more and more like it was a tragic accident.  The 39-year-old man who was driving the vehicle that struck Dodge was reportedly not speeding and not impaired, according to the article. Additionally, people familiar with that area say that the lighting in that part of town is very poor.

At this time, no charges have been filed.  We'll keep an eye on the story.
