Maine Restaurant Named One of the Most Beautiful in the Country

In recent years, Maine has really become known as a ‘foodie’ state.  Whether you are in Portland, Augusta, or Houlton, you are bound to find at least a few amazing restaurants.

Dining out in Maine is more than just about the amazing food, though.  It’s really about the overall ambience.  The rustic Lost Kitchen or the amazing views of the Reading Room at the Bar Harbor Inn, for example.

One restaurant on Maine’s coast has just been named one of the most beautiful in the country.

The Earth at Hidden Pond

According to an article in People magazine, Earth at Hidden Pond has been named one of the 50 most beautiful restaurants in the United States.

Located in Kennebunkport, the restaurant has a pseudo-rustic motif.

The People article said, in part:

Nature is on display at this Kennebunkport restaurant, where rough-hewn chairs and statement log walls add to the cozy vibe.

The restaurant has an ever-changing a la carte menu by course.  For example, for $88 per person, you get three courses: first or second, main course, and dessert.  For $98 per person, you get one of each course.

Selections on the May 2024 menu include beef tartare, pork belly, duck, scallops, venison, and seafood stew.

One of the most unique items on the current menu is the tempura fiddleheads with the spicy aioli.

You can even have Japanese A5 Wagyu beef as your second course or main course, but there is an additional charge.  Then again, how often do you have a chance to have Wagyu beef?  Yeah, it's definitely worth the extra.

In addition to the amazing food, the restaurant features a creative cocktail menu.

Some of the most beautiful restaurants in New England

Several other New England restaurants made People’s list.

One of those was the Three Chimneys Inn.  Located in Durham, New Hampshire, the restaurant is known for its traditional New England fare.

Wusong Road, located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, is a tiki-themed eatery.

One of the other New England restaurants making the list is the Hermitage Inn in Dover, Vermont.
