It’s So Cold In Maine, The Snowballs Are Making Themselves
Just when you think you've seen it all, here comes another meteorologic phenomenon that will blow your mind.
In a video posted by Down East Magazine, shot by Benjamin Williamson Photography, we're getting a look at a rare occurrence, which happened recently in the town of Bethel, Maine. Snowballs forming themselves? Really??
Apparently, if the weather conditions are just right, snowballs can be formed naturally by the wind. It's pretty amazing to think that in all of my years on this planet, I had never heard of such a thing until now.
In doing some further research on this on Reddit, I found that there is actually a name for this. According to Reddit user ratt60,
That's a really rare meteorological occurrence called "snow rollers". We had them in central Ohio a few years ago. They were like perfect bails of hay.
So sadly, we can't take ownership of this as exclusively a Maine thing. However, still impressive indeed.
