I think we can all agree that we are really fortunate to live in a state like Maine.

Sure, the place is not perfect.  The taxes are high, the winters are often brutal, and we don't really have any major cities, but the state has much to offer!  The State of Maine has some of the cleanest air,  the state has great scenery (from mountains, to forests, to beaches), and it is a great place to raise a family.

But, have you ever wondered where the best place to live in the State of Maine is?

We believe we have the answer!

According to several organizations (Niche & The Crazy Tourist), the best place to live in the State of Maine is Cape Elizabeth!

Located in Cumberland County, the Town of Cape Elizabeth is a short drive from all that Portland and South Portland have to offer.  As of 2020, the town had a population of just under 9,600.  One of the state's wealthier towns, as of the early 2000s, the the median income for a household in the town was $72,359 and the median income for a family was $106,126.  So, you can pretty much assume that these numbers would be higher than that now.

In our opinion, some of the other great places to live include Lewiston / Auburn because the area is currently seeing a major revitalization, Hallowell because it is such a beautiful artsy place with great restaurants, and Presque Isle because of its proximity to Maine's great forest.
