Why? There were some concerns about possible lead contamination and these nuggets were sold at Walmart stores across the country, including right here in Maine.  

If you’re concerned that you purchased these, here’s what you must look for: the 29-ounce bags with a “best if used by” date of February 10, 2027, and lot code 0416DPO1215.

The nuggets are no longer being sold on shelves, but still could be in many freezers!

So why is this a big deal? Lead exposure, even in small amounts over time, can build up in the body and lead to serious health issues.

According to the article, experts on this as well as the World Health Organization, long-term exposure to lead can impact your brain, kidneys, and cardiovascular system. 

It’s also extremely dangerous for young children, as it can affect their growth and development. 

The bottom line is make sure that if you buy this item to check your freezer, double-check the label, and if you are unsure, just toss it.
