Amazon Wants to Buy Almost 100 Acres of Land in Gorham, Maine
Amazon has come a long way since it started in 1995, selling books. That's right, kids. Amazon was the world's largest online bookstore. Today, it sells everything and delivers it right to your door.
Amazon is now expanding its distribution centers into Maine, so you get your packages even faster.
Amazon Wants to Buy Almost Acres of Land
This is the intersection of Main Street and Dolloff Road in Gorham, and as you can see, there's a lot of land here that would be perfect for an Amazon distribution center for Southern Maine. These are facilities that receive packages from Amazon and distribute them to the area, all with the goal of getting purchases to people faster.
One just opened in Caribou on August 15 and will make getting Amazon orders to Northern Maine much faster.
Likely Location for Amazon
The above Google Maps photo shows the approximate location of the land in question. This is just me making a guess based on what we know.
According to WMTW, the Gorham Town Council will vote on August 19 on whether or not to approve the sale of 94 acres of land to Amazon for $4 million. If you ask me, Gorham would be crazy not to sell.
Not only will the Amazon distribution center, which we assume Amazon wants to build, get packages to customers quickly, but it will also create jobs. Everyone is a winner here. Gorham gets $4 million, Amazon customers get packages faster, and more jobs will come to Maine. Let's do this!
