Casco Days begins Thursday in Casco Village, Maine where the entire town gets together for a celebration that has been happening for 88 years.

What is Casco Days? According to the Casco Days website, the first annual Casco Days celebration was held in 1935 and raised a total of $374.04 which was divided between the Casco High School Alumni Association, the Grange Hall, the Casco Village Church, the Fire Department, and the South Portland American Band who came to play. Today, Casco Days raises more than $100,000.

The midway is set up in Casco Days Park in Casco Village. This is what it looked like when I stopped by on Friday. The Casco Day Fair Association owns the vintage Ferris wheel and merry-go-round. They've been a part of Casco Days for years and are operated by volunteers.

Fireworks On July 27

Rides that the young kids will love. Rides that their own parents and maybe even grandparents rode on when they were kids.

Maine Mariners mascot Beacon and Forest Hancock from Hancock Lumber will be there for the Children's Parade on Friday July 28. I also just learned that Hancock Lumber has a mascot.

There's also the Grand Parade, Road Race, all kinds of food including a pancake breakfast and so much more. It's a one-of-a-kind event that's core hasn't really changed much since it began in 1935.
