One of Maine’s Last Drive In Theaters Is Reopening in Farmington
There is something super magical about a Maine night when the sun just starts to dip down behind the trees, the air is cool enough for a hoodies, and the kids are excited to watch a movie on the big screen, outside.
Yes, we're talking one Maine drive-in that is still operating to this day.
Narrow Gauge Cinema in Farmington recently announced there opening night and honestly, it's the kind of night moms dream about, easy, affordable and just chaotic enough to feel like a real memory.
Drive-In Movies Are Back in Farmington, Maine
Opening night can't come soon enough set for Thursday May 28th! And once they open I know all of us are hoping the rain won't be so constant and demanding.
These nights are ones us Moms can get excited to share with the kids, right? Because it's something we can bond together with the memories of when our parents took us to the drive-in movies. Pure nostalgia.
And today, that comes in short supply with the force of technology.
So grab up your blankets, jammies, and toss some of your favorite snacks in the back. Let the kids climb into the back likes it's the 90s again. No worrying about whispering or when someone needs a potty break, just relaxed fun under the stars with the family.
Now, there is no list out of the movies that will be playing, but as a Maine mom myself, I know what I'd like to see on that line-up: Sandlot, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Frozen, and maybe the very first Toy Story.
How Much Does It Cost at Narrow Gauge Cinema Drive-In in Maine?
According to Narrow Gauge Cinema, at $25 per car, including popcorn and drinks, it's super affordable. Come to think of it, the last time I brought my family to the movies I was paying almost $150. This is not that.
Sometimes the best Maine summer nights aren't the fancy ones, they are the ones where your kids all fall asleep shoulder to shoulder in the backseat before the credits roll.
