For fans of fall foliage in New England, this weekend is like the Super Bowl of leaf peeping. According to newengland.com, Saturday and Sunday are expected to be the time that the colors of the leaves on trees in many parts of New England are their brightest and most vibrant. The interactive fall foliage map on their web page shows that this weekend, much of Maine will be in the red, which indicates peak foliage. While northern New Hampshire will be at peak as well, southern and central parts of the state will still be on the yellow side, and aren't likely to peak until late next week.

Leaf peepers from all over the world descend upon northern New England around this time of the year, and fall foliage often provides the area with a significant boost to the local economy. Many people rank Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont as one of the best regions in the world to see leaves change color.
