Many of us have the desire to travel, but let's face it, it's expensive! The plane tickets, lodging, meals, it all adds up, not to mention all of the time you have to take off work. Many of us do not have the luxury of paid time off.

As an adventurous eater, one of my favorite things about traveling is trying cuisine from other parts of the world. I don't want the Americanized version of an international dish! Feed me what the locals are eating so I can truly feel immersed in the culture.

A new restaurant is opening in Dover, and the concept highlights my favorite part of traveling: the food. It's called Gallivant Global Eatery, and it's coming soon to the Garrison City:

It is the brainchild of a Dover local named Kristen French:

Kristen has worked in the service industry for the past 20 years in various capacities. She described this new endeavor as her passion project. The concept behind Gallivant is to combine her love for travel with a desire to serve. Food is her love language! The menu will feature globally-inspired food and beverages, and focus primarily on brunch. The restaurant will also have a charitable component and feature a rotating special with proceeds donated to a different charity. Kristen said:

"I can’t wait to see what we can all do together to give back to our community by simply eating!"

I love the name "Gallivant" because that is exactly what you do when you are exploring a new place. You gallivant around to take in all of the sights and try all of the delicious food. Brilliant name!

And according to this recent Facebook post, Gallivant is open and ready for business:

Speaking of restaurants, here are a few that are worth traveling for (but not too far)
